January Study Group Assignments


Non-Fiction Study Group
Read Chapters 5 & 6. Please bring student examples of any lessons you've tried out from the text to share with your colleagues!

iWrite Technology Study Group
Read the rest of the chapters in the book. Please bring two educational blogs that you have found interesting/useful to share with your colleagues! We will be looking through the blogs during our session and discussing the rest of the book.

    Where did January go? It has been a busy time of writing and using technology in my classroom this month. I began the month with goal setting and used Daniel Pink's Drive exercise that we did in December to allow my students to write a sentence about themselves and their future.

    We also began an enrichment class after school to implement Writing for Change. We have used Wordle in creating notebook covers with words that relate to each students ideas and love of writing and we used Image Chef to create "I Love " poems. It is great to be able to work with students who are passionate about their writing. I can't wait to do more innovative things using technology to enhance these students amazing writing.
